Little hedgehog curled up tight,
Seeing through the winter night,
Waking up in spring,
Eating everything,
Scavenging for scraps,
Having little naps,
Eating the cat’s food,
Making the cat in a mood,
Snuffling in the wood,
Life as a hedgehog is good.
Little hedgehog prickles up,
Hiding from a bouncy pup,
After that daddy dog,
Is barking at the little hog,
Hedgehog scared, runs away,
Surviving the dogs for another day,
Stealing milk, eating worms,
Walking round in twists and turns,
Snuffling in the wood,
Life as a hedgehog is good.
Great fun is a hedgehog life,
As long as you avoid the butcher’s knife,
A hedgehog it would be fun to be,
But dangers come from you and me,
Mowing lawns and driving car,
Hedgehog dangers are near and far,
We must help our prickly friends,
To make sure the species never ends.
lovely poem, and what a big worm the hedgehog is eating!
