Did you know that 22nd April is Earth day? It is a day where people around the world think about the environment and try to do things to make it better. It tells people more about the environment and asks people to do more to protect the environment. More than a billion people have taken part in Earth day across the world! Earth day tries to remind people how important it is to do things to protect our planet.
Earth day 2021 has the theme of 'Restore our Earth' and is concentrating on ending plastic pollution, fighting climate change, and protecting our wild areas. We think all of these are really important and hope that you do to. There are lots of events going on in different schools and clubs all over the place to celebrate Earth day. You can see some of the events that are going on here:
You could get involved in one of these or do an event of your own. We are getting our classes at school to talk about Earth day and watch a video clip about why it is important to help the environment:
You could also look at some of our other ideas like litter picking, planting plants, eating less meat, or reducing plastic and recycling it into crafts. These are all good ways to help our environment that you can quickly and easily do at home.
We hope you get involved in Earth day and tell other people about why it is so important to look after our planet. We want it to be a nice place for humans, animals and plants to live for many many years.
