Growing plants is really fun and really easy. Also it is really good for you and for the environment. Did you know that growing plants indoors can improve your mood, and make you better at concentrating? They can also help to make the air inside better, working a bit like an air purifier. Growing plants is good for the environment because they take in carbon dioxide which is a greenhouse gas, and they give out oxygen which we need to breath.
There are lots of different ways to grow indoor plants.
The easiest is probably to get packs of seeds and plant them in a pot with some soil or compost. You can always get just a bit of soil from outside, but if you can't get any then some seeds like cress will grow easily on cotton wool too. And if you don't have pots you can use plastic bottles or yoghurt pots (reusing plastic at the same time!)
You don't need to go out and buy seeds though. If you are eating peppers or apples or a lot of other fruit or vegetables, you could get the seeds from these and grow them. When you cut the top off a carrot, you can put this on a small plate of water and the green shoots will start to grow again so you can then plant it.
If you are out for a walk you can collect pine cones. Get the biggest ones from under the tree, then let them dry for a few days. Then when you shake them the seeds will come out and you can plant them (point downwards) in a pot.
Another thing you can do is to take cuttings from other plants and grow these. Carefully cut a new looking stem off a plant using a sharp knife or sharp scissors. Don't touch the end of it where it is cut. Then put it in a pot with compost and water it well. Cover the pot with a clear plastic bag or a clear bottle and put it somewhere warm and bright.
Then remember to keep watering your plants and watch them grow.
