Lots of our fruit and vegetables in the garden is ready for picking now, we're really pleased with how most of it has been growing.
We have so much fruit! There are raspberries and blackcurrants all the time, we just can't pick them fast enough. This week we have picked bowls full every day. We have made fruit muffins, had fruit with yoghurt, fruit smoothies and made summer pudding as well as freezing some for later.
As well as the fruit, the lettuce and the peas have done brilliantly. We have had lettuce from the garden almost every day this week. This has meant lots of lovely salads and flat breads which has been great in this warm weather.
To go with this we also have some really good cucumbers which we have picked. We used some in salad but had quite a lot so we also pickled some of them. Delicious!
The tomatoes, sweetcorn, carrots and potatoes are all still doing really well but are not ready for us to pick them yet. Our peppers don't seem to be doing very well though. They got greenfly on them a few times and seem to have not really done well because of this. We still have some pepper plants growing indoors and outside, so maybe they will give us some peppers soon.
It is brilliant growing so much of our own fruits and vegetables, checking on them and picking them straight from the garden to eat. It means that they are really fresh and tasty when we want to eat them, and we know that they have been grown well without any chemicals on them that could harm the environment.
