Wombling!

Our town has recently set up a 'Wombles' group which is trying to help make the place tidier and nicer for everyone. We have been litter picking lots of times in the past, but only with our family before now. When the wombles group started advertising some organised litter picks, we thought we would go along and see what they were like.

When we arrived everyone was really friendly and chatty. We made friends with a few other kids who were taking part, and with some dogs that were coming along too (we love dogs!) It was really nice to litter pick as a group because we could really notice the difference we made to the areas, they looked so much better by the end. Plus we made new friends who are also keen to help the environment. Once, a group of us made up a game while we were litter picking, pretending we were cleaning our castle, and it was really fun. And another time we also got free ice cream from a local business man who wanted to thank us!

We would definitely recommend finding out if there is a local litter picking group near to you. It is a really nice way to help the environment and also meet new people who want to do the same, and maybe make some new friends too.
